Course will be run over two consecutive days (not as an overnight), starting at Basecamp Adventures Queenstown.
- learning how to read a topographic map
- being able to estimate how long a route will take you
- using a route card to plan your intended trip
- learning a simple method to use a compass that doesn't involve maths
- a mixture of theory and practical learning, with lots of time spent outside practicing skills
- ways of utilising technology to support your navigation
- tips for advanced navigation (depending on group)
It includes 2 days with a qualified instructor, maps and compasses provided, as well as transport to/ from Basecamp Adventures to the practice areas.
Please note this course needs a minimum of 3 participants to run, but if you have a group of 4-6 please get in touch to arrange custom course dates.
